Date Ideas for Valentine’s Day 2023 in Austin

January 25, 2023 (Last Updated: January 26, 2023)

Hello friends, Valentine’s Day is almost here, and it’s one of my favorite holidays. It feels like Valentine’s Day brings out people’s creativity, and I just love that. You can wear the prettiest pink and red outfits, I love adding pink hearts and flowers to my home decor, and I absolutely adore special date nights. If you’re looking for a romantic night out in Austin or something budget-friendly to do at home, you’ll have a fun night.

Romantic Night Out

Olamaie’s

Olamaie’s is offering a special price fixe dinner menu for February 14th only at $150 per person. This menu features some of the restaurant’s most popular dishes and is sure to impress your significant other. To make a reservation, book through OpenTable.

Summer House Lane

Summer House Lane is a great option for couples looking for a cozy and intimate atmosphere. I love their modern indoor space. For Valentine’s Day, they offer a 3-course dinner menu, perfect for a romantic night out. Book your reservation through Resy.

Perry’s Steakhouse

Perry’s is a great spot for those who want a candlelit dinner and love steak and seafood. They’re offering a candlelit dinner with lobster, filet mignon roast, and chocolate dipped strawberries. Book a reservation on their website for the Domain or Downtown location.

Soto

Soto is offering a 10-course Omakase for $150 per person. This is a great option for sushi lovers looking to try some unique and delicious dishes. Make your reservation through OpenTable to secure your spot.

Budget-Friendly Date Ideas

Drive Ins at Blue Starlite

A date night at the drive ins is so nostalgic and cute. Blue Starlite takes the fond memories of movie make outs to the next level by playing the best classics for the week of Valentine’s Day: Say Anything, Sixteen Candles, The Princess Bride, and The Notebook are all playing at this Austin Drive In theater. Blue Starlite has two locations – Mueller and Downtown. Book your tickets here.

Picnic at Zilker Park

If the weather’s nice, grab a blanket and pack your picnic basket. Zilker Park has one of the best views of downtown Austin, making it one of the most romantic locations to watch the sunset with your S.O. and your pup! My hubby and I love packing some wine and cheese and watching all the dogs play in the park.

Hike the Trails in Austin

An evening stroll on the Ann-and-Roy Butler Trail is one of my favorite walking trails because the paved route takes you along Lady Bird Lake and has beautiful views of the city. You and your S.O. can watch the turtles and all kinds of wild life on your walk. Here are some of the most popular trails in Austin.

Love & Boat

Invite your partner or your friends to watch the sunset with an intimate picnic on the water in one of Love & Boat’s donut boats for up to 4 hours. With their picnic package, they do all the set up for you to have a relaxing, romantic date. Book your picnic experience here.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to stay in and have a romantic night with your significant other. If you’re looking for budget-friendly date night ideas, here are some options to make your night special and unforgettable.

Romantic Night In

Aba: Dinner To-Go for Two

Aba is offering a dinner for two to go. Their special menu includes lobster bisque, chocolate lava cake, Prosecco, and more. It’s a great option for couples who want a fancy dinner without having to go out. You can order online here.

Add Aphrodisiacs to Your Dinner Menu!

Making dinner together can be fun, so why not add some well-known aphrodisiacs to your ingredients. Baked artichokes appetizer. Pine nuts and rosemary go well in most pasta or steak dishes. Why not try something new and bake oysters together? It’s a fun and unique way to spend time together and enjoy a delicious meal. You can find oysters at your local seafood market or grocery store. (I went to Quality Seafood Market in Austin, and the staff helped so much since I was a first time oyster baker.)

Strawberries for dessert are also always a great idea. I made these Strawberry Empanadas last year, which are easy and delicious!

Make Your Own Pasta

Put your apron on and have some fun. Making pasta together is a fun and budget-friendly way to have a romantic night in. Making your own noodles can be a fun time to goof off in the kitchen, and it’s super easy. Then, pick your favorite sauce and toppings and enjoy a homemade meal together.

Other Budget-Friendly Date Night Ideas:

  • Movie night with homemade popcorn and a cozy blanket
  • Game night with your favorite board games
  • Spa night at home with DIY face masks and massages (I linked my current favorite natural massage oil/lube on my Amazon storefront Valentine’s Day list!)
  • Have a wine and cheese night with your favorite wines and pairings

If none of these ideas strike your fancy, you can find more date ideas at one of my favorite resources for things to do in Austin. Whatever you decide to do, just remember it’s a Hallmark holiday and it shouldn’t be stressful. No matter which option you choose, you’re sure to have a romantic and unforgettable night with your loved one. Happy Valentine’s Day!
