How I Learned To Make The Perfect Bloody Mary
When I first graduated, I worked at a this small dive bar in Wheeling, WV. To give you an idea, the menu consisted mainly of fried food, the busiest days were when there was a Steelers or WVU football game, and most of the people that came to the bar ordered beer or a classic rum & coke. There was one older woman who would come to the bar around 4:00 every afternoon and ordered a long island iced tea and read her book. It was wonderful. On our slow days, behind the bar we would learn how to make all kinds of cocktails.
There was one customer in particular, a real bloody mary snob, who was very picky about her bloody marys – my mother. The first bloody mary I gave to her was just ice, vodka, and bloody mary mix, and boy did she tell me how plain it was!

With a little guidance, and thousands of bloody marys later, I can tell you that this bloody mary recipe is not just tomato juice.
Bloody Mary Toppings
I love that over the years, I’ve seen some shocking and delicious full meals on top of bloody marys. Rarely, does one serve a bloody mary with just a lemon and lime. You have to make it wow people. ( If you want to!)
For me, I love trying to play with all kinds of toppings. I’ve added fried drumsticks, cheese, powdered donuts, an avocado, the possibilities are endless.
