I recently visited one of my college friends in London. If you didn’t know, brunch was founded in England in the late 19th century, so I was over the moon when I found out a friend of a friend was celebrating her birthday the weekend I was in the city. She planned a late 3:30 pm brunch at Canova Hall.

The Noms
I was blown away by this brunch menu. It has plenty to offer for picky eaters, several pizza dishes, quite a few vegan specialties, pasta, and breakfast classics. They offer a twist on classic dishes like truffle scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and vegan fried chicken with green chili sauce, spinach, watermelon and red chillies.
If you guys don’t know, there are few things I love more than beets and gnocchi. Well, Canova Hall combined the two. I obviously had to try their Vegan Beetroot Gnocchi with pistachio pesto, walnuts, rocket and sage. You can tell from the description that it was a little earthy, but it was good if you like beets!

If you don’t like beets, I’d highly recommend the Goat’s Cheese, Balsamic & Pancetta toast with tomatoes, spinach, radish, pistachios and lemon zest. I stole a bite of my friend’s meal, and it was phenomenal. The pizza dishes also were enough for two people, but we were told that during brunch you still have to buy a side or two.

Bottomless Mimosas and Beyond
As soon as the entire table was seated, a waiter came to the table and told us the plan. The minute he brought over drinks, the two hour timeline would start, and we could only refill a drink when the carafe/bowl was completely empty. With that in mind our party ordered the Rum Punch, Prosecco, and the Mimosas.

The service was absolutely amazing. I lost count of how many refills our table had up to the last minute. Even after we hit our time limit, the waiter moved our party to another table so that we could finish the last drinks.
If you’re going to have brunch, you might as well roll it into a pregame in Brixton. I was genuinely surprised that we were able to drink at this restaurant for as long as we did.
The Atmosphere
The restaurant has a rather large seating space with several booths, high-top tables, and a gorgeous bar. If you’re seated towards the back of the restaurant, there’s an open concept kitchens, so if you’re semi-sober you can see the chefs perform their magic. It’s a really cute atmosphere with plenty of pop music.

The Neighborhood
Canova Hall is located in the vibrant neighborhood of Brixton. Not only does T Swift love nights in Brixton, it’s the birthplace of David Bowie. If you have time to check out the best things to do in the neighborhood, explore Brixton Market and the Village, try a bite of Caribbean food, visit the history museum, and relax in Brockwell Park.
