A Very Merry Brunchmas: Pittsburgh Donuts

Not everyone wants to slave away in the kitchen on Christmas morning and that is OKAY. Donuts are a classic breakfast/brunch item that make everyone (except the gluten free folks) happy. If you want to include those less fortunate gluten free family members in the donut eating festivities, most grocery stores carry decent gluten free donuts in the frozen section or check out the Gluten Free Goat Bakery!

Oram’s Donuts

Oram’s is known for their cinnamon rolls, but they have a few delicious options on the fall/winter menu — peanut butter filled with chocolate icing, Oram’s original creme filled with maple icing, caramel apple filled, and pumpkin glazed cake. Yum!

Freedom Farms

Not only does this family owned business grow over 25 varieties of fruits and vegetables and raise chickens, cows, and pigs, they have some of the most mouth watering donuts in the Pittsburgh area. If you take a look at their menu, they have three variety dozens that look amazing. Personally, I’d want the Freedom Dozen with Raised Chocolate Iced M&M, Apple Fritters, Cinnamon Rolls, and Chocolate Chip Cake Glazed. If you’d rather make something homemade, take a look at their apple cider recipes before you do your Christmas baking!

Duck Donuts

The list of featured holiday donuts made fresh by Duck Donuts has my heart growing three times its size. Just a few from their list include chocolate covered bacon, chocolate glaze with holiday sprinkles, peppermint hot cocoa, Santa Suit (Vanilla Icing with Raspberry Drizzle.)

Oakmont Bakery

This award-winning bakery has beautifully decorated cakes and cookies. You could buy all of your sweets including your donuts from their shop.

Dunkin Donuts

My coworkers brought in a variety box of Dunkin’s fresh donuts the other day and I could not have been happier. Not only do they have cute decorations, they also have a new Holiday Brownie Crumble Donut, featuring a vanilla frosted donut dipped in brownie crumbles and drizzled with dark green icing.
